Four Girls Between 3 and 10 Share this Small Room
Before Most of the support slats on this bed were broken causing the mattress to sag. Two other mattresses were laid on the floor. The youngest didn't have her own bed. . After The girls' mom willingly changed rooms with them so we could squeeze in enough sleeping space for four. A Purple Room for a 12 Year Old Girl
Before This girl was sleeping on a bed with broken support slats and an old mattress. Being a middle school student, she also really needed a desk. . After We painted this room a soft mauve colour with white ceiling and trim, installed a new entry door and a white ceiling fixture. New Bunk Beds for Two Brothers
Before Two brothers, 8 and 15, shared this bedroom. One slept in part of an old bunk bed and the other slept on the floor. Their mattresses were old and they were trying to use an old dresser as a computer desk. A lack of hangers meant the closet did not store much clothing and what they owned was not visible. . A Pink Unicorn for a 5 Year Old Girl
Before This long, narrow room was shared by a 17 year old girl and her 5 year old sister. . After They both liked purple so we painted the room for them. Behind the bedroom door we secured some open shelving and a framed wall mirror. We provided linens, new pillows, a floral duvet for the teen and a unicorn comforter for the little one, complete with a stuffed unicorn.

Blue Room for an 8 Year Old Boy
Before This young fellow wanted his room painted blue. He needed a new mattress because his was hard and every metal coil could be felt through the covering. A New Room for a 14 Year Old Artist
Before This room belonged to a 14 year old boy and the walls were like this when he moved in 3 years earlier. He had nailed an old sheet over the window for privacy. Pink bedrom for 12 year old girl
Before A 12 year old girl wanted a pink bedroom. Her mom saved and hired someone to paint it for $50, a large amount for her. The painter brought his own choice of paint, a harsh pink and applied only one coat which began to flake off in the following months. 3 children slept on a sleeping “pad”
Before Three children, ages 8, 10 and 13 arrived in Canada with their parents to begin a new life. All three children slept on this sleeping “pad” . . After We provided 3 beds, 2 with storage drawers beneath. We also provided bed linens, a desk and chair as well as a lovely “upcycled” dresser for the child whose bed had no drawers. . Extra: Although our focus is children’s bedrooms, we were pleased to provide some living room furniture in this case as well.

Children storing their clothes in a broken desk
Before Two boys, aged 5 and 9, were storing their clothes in a broken desk, found in their apartment dumpster. . . After We “upcycled” a sturdy mid-century dresser for them . We also gave them school supplies and some story books. When we were leaving, the 9 year old said “I’m going to remember you for a long, long time.” .

Crib for a baby
Before A baby was sleeping on the floor, using this mattress . (The other side was worse.) When he was 5 months he began to remove the mattress stuffing through the holes. His parents were worried he might put it in his mouth. . After Now he has a perfect mattress in a vintage Jenny Lind crib. .
