Before This boy was moving his double bed to the room next door.  The bed seemed to fill the room, so the challenge was to fit in the other furniture he needed. . Before This girl had a double bed and was to trade rooms with her brother.  We measured carefully because every centimeter would count! . Before This young girl had been through some challenging times and her room had accumulated many items she neither needed nor used.  She had a good bed and mattress but the bed needed some repair to one of the storage drawers. The closet reflected a lack of order and the bean bag chair was only used to hold random items. . Before This teen had a double bed.  He was fine to keep the beige walls but wanted another colour or two to make it different. . After  One of our talented volunteers created this amazing feature wall.  Needless to say it was very much appreciated by the recipient.  The beautiful, slim chest of drawers was donated just in time for this installation.  We hung drapes on a sturdy new pole. Before This young fellow was sleeping on two box springs topped by a mattress that was for his sibling in another room.  He had a dresser but no desk or chair.  The old electrical outlets needed replacing. His bedroom door was broken and and missing its door knob.  The latex paint in this room had been applied over oil based paint without first applying a layer of primer.  The top layer was peeling badly.   After  Our first day in this room was spent peeling, sanding an

Before This little girl had a lovely bed but really needed a new mattress and bedding.  She preferred to sleep with a sibling instead of in her own bed.  The curtain rod was broken and the drapery panel had a hole in it.  The electrical outlets were decades old and one was faulty.  Although the room was painted purple, her favourite colour, the depth of tone made the room seem small.  The trim was a dark colour as well. . His room was small and needed construction work, furniture and decorating. Before This boy did not have a bed.  He slept on 2 old mattresses, stacked on top of one another.  His dresser was old and needed work. This room was not a pleasant colour.  It also lacked baseboards, door moldings and a closet door.  Some parts of the ceiling were stained from a plumbing problem upstairs in the homeowner's bathroom. This room was in the basement apartment of a small bungalow.  It needed further construction, which the landlord was not willing to complete. Before The closet lacked a shelf and the molding to frame the door.  The door had been taken off by a previous tenant. The baseboards were missing. Before Five young brothers and sisters slept on the floor in this small room.  There was very little clothing storage.  This space measured only 9'3" x 9'2".  It would need to become a nice room for 3 sisters.   . Before This is the second bedroom for the five siblings.  It would need to house brothers, aged 8 and 10, but  was only  7' wide.  Clothes for all 5 of the children were mostly kept here but were not easily accessible.  The space seemed dark and closed in. Before A 5 year old boy was sharing his mattress with his 8 year old sister.  He had a broken bedside table for some of his clothes and the rest were in a plastic bin.  His walls needed paint and his favourite colour was blue. . Before . Two brothers, ages 7 and 15 were new to Canada and were sleeping on the floor.  Their room held some random bed pieces and 4 used mattresses. After  Two of their mattresses were undamaged and fit onto a solid pine bunk bed we brought.  They have new linens, duvets and pillows. The room was just wide enough to hold a dresser, a solid wood desk and a bright red chair.  The desk contains appropriate school supplies we provided for each boy.

Before Two sisters had slept on the 2 mattresses shown here.  There were no bed frames and the headboard was too large to be attached. Tragically, the older sister passed away in an accident.  The younger girl did not want to sleep there without her sister. Our job was to create a beautiful space that completely reflected a bright, quiet little girl who loves books and the colour pink. . Before In a government apartment, two boys aged 12 and 13, shared a very tiny bedroom.  It measured about 9' x 9'. They had beds with drawers underneath, a bedside table and shared a chest of drawers. Their window leaked badly and the room was very cold in winter. In some places when we tried to sand the rough wall, it just crumbled and fell out  This demonstrates years of water damage. Before Three sisters, ages 9, 11 and 15 had arrived to their first Canadian winter and were sharing 2 used mattresses on the floor of their bedroom.  There was no bedroom furniture. . Before Sometimes we have rooms that need fewer items and less work.  This basement room was one of them.   This young girl had just moved into the home of her guardians, following the passing of her only parent.  Her grandfather had purchased a bed and small desk for her and the guardian gave her this dresser.  She really required storage solutions so she could keep all her "memory" items with her as long as needed. . This wonderful captain's bed went to a 15 year boy who had been sharing a double bed with his two younger brothers.  The drawers eliminated the need for a dresser and the bookcase headboard will hold his books and other small belongings.  The room was in good shape so repairs and paint were not needed. .

Before This room appears too full.  There is a lack of useful storage.  The bed is not properly supported and the headboard is too large to attach.  Also, part of the closet was lost to a large enclosed pipe so the space to hang clothing was reduced. . Before These athletic sisters, aged 10 and 12 had chosen to have twin beds.  The beds were in good shape but took most of the floor space in their room.  The dresser needed knobs but there was no space for a desk, the one piece that can hold future promise.   They were agreed they would like the colour blue.  Numerous ribbons and medals on the walls indicated their love of sports. Before This boy's room was really filled with a double size bunk bed that was handed down from his sisters.  He needed a single bed, plus storage for clothing, toys and books.   .
